In October 2019, we sent a BYD ECB35 Lithium counterbalance forklift to the Victorian branch of Shred-X, an innovative Secure Data Destruction and recycling business, for a trial.
Their requirement was that the forklift needed to be fitted with a rotating clamp or bale clamp, and a set of quick hose fitting to allow fast and easy change over between the two attachments. With the attachment on, the requirement was for grab to lift a maximum of 2 shredded paper bales at a time, a total weight of about 1.6 tonnes, and to load and push the bales onto a semi-trailer. And the BYD ECB35 did the job beautifully.
In addition, according to their monitoring, a fully charged battery set allowed 2-3 days of operations, with each day roughly 6 hours of constant working time (The demo unit was fitted with an 80V 540AH BYD Lithium battery).
The customer was a bit hesitant before the demo, however, the results were convincing and this changed their mindset.
Now we became a preferred supplier of forklift equipment to Shred-X.
